The characters in 'Another Life' are underdeveloped, and with the constant need to fix emergencies doesn't leave much room for their growth. The constant need to fix emergencies creates a sense of predictability and makes it hard to build attachments to the characters. While 'Another Life' offers some intriguing twists and turns, it fails to add anything particularly unique or groundbreaking to the genre.

The show's premise of an alien species taking over the universe has been explored before in other science fiction shows like 'Independence Day' and 'The Host', 'The Colony', and even the TV Series 'V', released in 1984 and then which was re-created 2009. While the show has its moments, it struggles to differentiate itself from other similar science fiction shows, This science fiction series on Netflix explores the threat of an alien species taking over the universe. Seems the only real solution to these ridiculous decisions by the big 3 networks, though ABC by far and away appears the most aggressive at axing new shows just before they truly get their following or just after a show has seized a dedicated viewership and earned a worthy following.'Another Life' may have an interesting concept, but it falls short of its potential.

Truthfully, I will just avoid getting into anything NOT already being aired by ABC if it is not on my watch / DVR list. For Life should not have been cancelled and the fact that ABC got this so abysmally wrong, frankly, will cause me to seriously think LONG & HARD about starting ANY NEW SERIES AIRED ON ABC. Let’s be honest, the corporate heads ARE DISCONNECTED FROM REALITY and it shows in decisions like this because they are missing the biggest 2 facts that are shaping the way people are watching TV in this country now:ġ) if folks haven’t yet CUT THE CORD, they sure as heck will and SOON, because Roku, Firestick, Chromecast, and Apple TV make it possible to tell AT&T, X-finity, Comcast, Charter / Spectrum, to go stuff their OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced cable, satellite or fiber based TV, along with their God forsaken non-compete clauses that limit consumer choices and keep prices artificially elevatedĢ) the vast majority of us DON’T WATCH LIVE TELEVISION but rather use our streaming service cloud DVR, or even God forbid, the cable provider’s crummy proprietary hardware DVR solution, which allows us the flexibility to watch–binge or otherwise–as we have the time and when / where convenient….even if that means I stream from my Hulu cloud DVR to my mobile phone or tablet ON THE GO, because frankly, I have it like that!ĪBC execs are out of touch and it is painfully evident that they will kill numerous excellent series based on their outdated metrics, which clearly miss the mark in every meaningful way and then some. The fact that ABC did this based upon PRIME TIME live viewership numbers and downright ludicrous rating methods that ARE CURRENTLY or SOON WILL BE completely useless to networks for the purpose of determining a shows’ true popularly and potential. Much to my dismay, the results that filled my browser were all CONFIRMING that ABC foolishly cancelled one of their most potent, meaningful, hard-hitting, racially charged and ethnically diverse dramas, which also happened to be based (if only loosely) upon a true life story that made the show truly riveting and deeply thought provoking! This began worrying me by this point in the year, so I searched the web using the query: ‘did ABC cancel the TV show FOR LIFE?’ Not even the faintest whisper about the series was found on ABC. I wondered for months why “Big Sky”, “Good Doctor” and my other favorite network TV series each began airing its respective season of new & often significantly pandemic-limited productions–many experiencing delays in airing of episodes or just ending up with an abbreviated number of episodes for the season–yet, “For Life,” still had not shown any sign of session 3 getting offf the ground.
